Multi-day travel from Qingdao to Weihai, Yantai and Penglai: how does Junaiyue handle Multi-Destination Transportation?

I have planned this peninsula route for nine years, and four cities in five days or four cities in four days is the most common. Guests hold out a map and ask me how to set the order of Qingdao, Weihai, Yantai and Penglai, where to sleep in between and how long each day is on the road. When Junaiyue takes this kind of multi-destination booking, the habit is to connect the four points into a loop on the map first, then work out how much can be covered each day. What guests want is to enjoy the trip, not to relocate to a new city every day.

Multi-Destination Transportation comes down to links between one point and the next. Highways connect the four cities and no leg is long, but put the order the wrong way and back-and-forth doubling adds 200 km. The Junaiyue standard is to travel one loop: start from Qingdao, then Weihai, Yantai and Penglai in turn with no doubling back, and the overnight stops are set to match that same order.

In what order should the four cities be visited

Following the loop saves the most time. Qingdao sits in the south, Weihai in the east, Yantai in the middle and Penglai in the north, so Qingdao to Weihai, on to Yantai and then Penglai is one smooth line without doubling back. Junaiyue basically follows this order, adjusting only when guests want a specific stop.

Some guests want Penglai first. Heading straight north from Qingdao to Penglai, then on to Yantai and Weihai, and back to Qingdao from Weihai, also forms a line, though the Qingdao to Penglai stretch takes a little over three hours and makes the first day longer. When Junaiyue meets this order, it asks why, and if Penglai Pavilion is the draw it plans the way guests wish, moving the Departure Time for day one earlier.

What guests bring also affects the plan. A photography group that wants sunrise at Chengshantou has to stay close to the site that night and leave a little after four in the morning. When Junaiyue meets this kind of request, the rest of that day shifts later as a whole rather than being forced into the original plan.

The run back to Qingdao needs thought as well. After the four cities, most guests return to Qingdao from Yantai or Penglai to catch a flight, a stretch of 160 to 200 km taking a little over two hours. Junaiyue works the Departure Time on the return day backward from the flight, and for an early flight suggests guests stay near Yantai or Qingdao airport the night before rather than rushing that morning.

How long each leg takes

No leg between the four cities is long. Qingdao to Weihai is 280 km, about two and a half hours; Weihai to Yantai is 80 km, a little over an hour; Yantai to Penglai is 70 km, just over an hour. The three legs total a bit over 400 km, spread over three days, so each day is about two hours on the road and the rest goes to attractions.

Day by day, attraction detours count too. On the Weihai to Yantai day, Depart from the city center to Liugong Island first, then the coastal road, reaching Yantai in the afternoon. With a meal stop, that is a bit over 200 km in a day. Junaiyue leaves slack in each day so extra stops still fit, never packing the day full.

City driving is easy to overlook. Weihai coastal road, Yantai Binhai Square and Penglai Dengzhou Old Street all sit in the city or just outside it, looking close on the map yet eating time in traffic. Junaiyue drivers build city time into the plan and leave half an hour of buffer between attractions, so guests never have to hurry from the back seat.

Fuel stops and restroom breaks count as well. Junaiyue drivers know this route well and are clear on which service area is clean and which has no line for fuel. On an intercity day there are usually two stops of about ten minutes each, which guests find enough and which do not hold up the trip.

How many days is right

Four days is the starting point. One city a day, with half a day to a full day in each, makes four days comfortably. Among the four-city bookings Junaiyue has handled, four and five days are most common, and guests taking more than six days tend to add an extra night in one city to slow down.

A three-day route has to compress. You have to leave for Weihai the same day and head back from Penglai on the third day, so attractions have to be the highlights, half a day each for Liugong Island and Penglai Pavilion and a stretch of the coastal road. With three-day guests Junaiyue is clear about it, writing both what fits and what does not on the sheet so guests choose for themselves.

Whether to add Jinan or Rizhao depends on where guests come from. For groups entering Shandong via Jinan, Junaiyue often folds Jinan into the first leg, joining the peninsula route from Jinan through Qingdao. For those coming from the Rizhao direction, one stop goes in before Qingdao. Either way the same vehicle and driver continue, so guests do not switch fleet.

Trip length also relates to where guests come from. For out-of-town groups flying in, the arrival day barely uses a vehicle, so four cities in five days is really four days on the road. Junaiyue sets the arrival and departure days aside and does not count them against the peninsula days.

Where to choose the overnight stops

Which city you sleep in ties to where each day ends. Following the loop, the first night is Weihai, the second Yantai, the third Penglai and the fourth back to Qingdao. When arranging lodging Junaiyue checks with guests on the next day itinerary, staying a little closer to the attractions so everyone gets half an hour more sleep in the morning.

Within one city, the area makes a real difference. In Weihai the seaside part of the center lets you walk the coastal road at night and is close to Liugong Island the next day. In Yantai, staying near Binhai Square is on the way toward Penglai. In Penglai, the edge of the old town makes a morning stroll on Dengzhou Old Street easy. Junaiyue suggests an area based on the next day plan rather than a vague line about staying downtown.

Driver lodging follows the guests. Multi-day vehicles do not return to Qingdao every night, and the driver room is booked by the fleet at a spot near the guest hotel. Junaiyue has long-standing arrangements with several hotels along the route, so even in peak season the driver room comes through, and guests do not have to think about it.

Peak season bookings should be early. Weihai and Penglai are short on hotels in July and August, so as soon as a trip comes in Junaiyue settles the overnight cities with guests. Once the cities are set the area can be chosen well, and booking late means staying farther out and spending half an hour more in the vehicle the next day.
