Point to point transfer sounds simple, nothing more than going from A to B. In real use the differences are all in the details: whether the vehicle can stop at the door, whether the driver waits for you and how far you walk with your cases. After years of transfer bookings Junaiyue has found that guest expectations here are quite concrete: do not make me carry cases a long way, do not make me hunt for parking, and do not make me stand in the wind waiting for a car.
This article starts from the guest use cases and explains clearly when point to point transfer fits and what to tell us in advance for each type of scenario.
Point to point transfer means vehicle service with a clear origin and a clear destination, used once or a few times, without sightseeing scheduled in between. There are roughly four types of scenarios that fit.
The first is a connection from a transport hub to your accommodation. Landing at Jiaodong International Airport, arriving by high speed rail at Qingdao Railway Station or Qingdao North Railway Station, then the leg from the station to the hotel. This is the most typical type, and the core need is to stop juggling arrangements, with someone meeting you the moment you land.
The second is a fixed round trip from accommodation to a scenic area and back. For example staying in the city, going to Mount Lao by day and returning to the city at night. This kind of need is sometimes better value as a half day booking, and Junaiyue will run the numbers for you based on the number of stops that day, comparing a one way transfer against a half day charter.
The third is event type transfers. Moving relatives on a wedding day, shuttling a production crew between shoot locations, or sending meeting delegates out in batches. These share three traits: many people, tight timing and scattered locations, and they require scheduling in advance.
The fourth is ad hoc transfers. A run to the hospital, a run to a mall or a run to see a friend. These needs usually crop up during the trip, and Junaiyue responds to same day requests subject to what is free in the fleet at the time.
Three things matter most to these guests: whether the driver waits, who moves the luggage and how long the drive takes.
On timing, Junaiyue sets the driver departure by the live status of the flight or train. Flight delays are not billed extra and the driver waits at the arrivals gate. On luggage, the driver pushes a cart from the arrivals level to the vehicle while you just follow. Some guests worry about not finding anyone in the crowd at arrivals, so our drivers usually confirm the meeting spot in advance, normally at an obvious sign near the arrivals gate.
On travel time, Jiaodong International Airport to the city is just over an hour normally and can approach one hour and forty minutes in peak season or rain. Junaiyue picks the route by the traffic that day and leaves room in the estimate given to guests. High speed rail transfers are simpler, with Qingdao Railway Station and Qingdao North Railway Station reaching all parts of the city in half an hour to an hour.
This type looks easiest yet most often goes wrong, and the snag is always parking.
Old town hotel entrances sit on one way streets with height restriction barriers, so large vehicles cannot get close. The Mount Lao parking lot fills up in peak season and drivers must go early to hold a space or park on the fringe. Street parking near Badaguan and Xiaomai Island is extremely limited. The Junaiyue dispatch system stores stop conditions for the main city hotels and scenic areas, so once you give us the address we can state exactly where the vehicle parks and how many minutes you walk.
One detail is worth flagging. If your hotel sits on a pedestrian street or in a narrow lane, the vehicle can only stop at the intersection and you walk that stretch yourself. This is not a service shortfall, it is a road constraint. Knowing in advance lets you trim your luggage or send family members up first with the bags.
Weddings, shoots and meetings have many moving parts and many people, and they call for scheduling ability rather than driving alone.
For these bookings Junaiyue first builds a timetable: who boards where at exactly what time, where they are dropped off and which vehicle takes the next group. When there are many people several vehicles go out at once, each with a contact person, and dispatch coordinates in between. The key with such bookings is not how many vehicles, it is hitting the time points precisely, which is why we build an extra ten minutes of buffer into every stage.
Production crews have somewhat special needs, often shuttling back and forth between several locations with a lot of gear and unpredictable timing. Junaiyue usually suggests booking by the day rather than by trip, because shoot time is hard to estimate and a daily arrangement gives guests a clearer sense of the total.
Independent travel throws up plenty of small needs: a run to the seafood market, a sudden trip to the Olympic Sailing Center, or a visit to the hospital when an older parent feels unwell.
Junaiyue responds to these on the same day, provided the fleet has an opening. On peak season evenings and weekends the fleet runs near full capacity and a last minute request may not be met immediately. We will say so honestly, arranging it when we can and not promising when we cannot. If you expect this kind of need during your trip, mention it when booking so we can leave room in the schedule.
First, the parking distance from the door. This is the most concrete point. On the same hotel to scenic area run, the real experience differs greatly depending on whether the vehicle parks at the entrance or a hundred meters away. A Junaiyue plan states the parking location clearly.
Second, how waiting time is counted. A transfer booking usually includes a free waiting period, with time beyond that billed. A Junaiyue transfer plan states the waiting allowance, and situations not caused by the guest such as flight delays do not count against it.
Third, whether a stop can be added mid route. Wanting to eat before heading to the hotel after an airport pickup counts as a stop within the same day route, and Junaiyue does not charge for it. This is used most often by families with children.
Treating transfers as a substitute for a charter and scheduling five or six one way runs in a single day. The price may not be lower than a full day charter, and you end up coordinating times over and over. For this kind of request Junaiyue suggests switching to a full day charter, which is easier for the guest and simpler to price.
Conversely, for guests who need only one or two runs Junaiyue will not push a full day booking. A transfer is a transfer, and it should be priced per trip when that is what it is.
